  • Restuarant Chef - cooks and prepares food for a restaurant. Head chefs occasionally get to decide what is on the menu.

 

  • Health Inspector - inspects establishments to make sure they are following public health laws and sanitation codes, including restaurants.

 

  • Food Technologist - develops and manufactures food products and uses technology to modify recipes. A food technologist has a background in other areas such as chemistry and engineering. 

 

  • Food Scientist - works to create and improve food products using science to improve packaging, processing, preservation, and delivery of food. 

 

  • Butcher - slaughters animals, dresses the flesh, and sells the meat.

 

  • Food Broker - an indepedent salesperson who helps food producers or manfucaturers sell their food.

 

  • Caterer - arranges the preparation, delivery, and presentation of food for clients. For example, many weddings use caterers to handle the food for the event.

 

  • Food Demonstrator - shows the preparation of a recipe or food, usually in a restaurant, store, or on TV.

 

  • Dietitian/Nutritionist - an expert in food and nutrition who counsels patients in nutrition. 

 

  • Farmer - raises crops, livestock, orchards, or vineyards.

 

  • Food Blogger - writes about all kinds of food and recipes.

 

  • Waiter/Waitress - waits on tables in a restaurant, serving food and drinks.

 

  • Test Kitchen Worker - works in a test kitchen to research and develop new food ingredients and recipes.

 

  • Restaurant Owner/Manager - responsible for the operation of a restaurant. For example, a restaurant owner oversees the purchase of supplies and food and is responsible for overseeing employee performance.

 

  • Food Stylist - styles food to make it more attractive by dealing with areas such as arrangement and color of the food.

 

  • Home Economics Teacher - educates students on basic food preparation and nutrition along with life skills such as cleaning.

 

  • Food Critic - a writer who analyzes food and publishes his or her findings and is generally more established than a blogger.

 

  • Gastronomist - studies food and culture and the connection between the two. A gastronomist looks at food preparation, nutritional value, and food science.
