Stockbrokers analyze the stock market as part of their jobs

  • Economist - conducts research, collects and analyzes data to notice trends, and develops forecasts in analzying the drawbacks and benefits in distributing/consuming goods and services. For example, an economist could use a mathematical model to find the effect of unemployment on the economy.

  • Stockbroker - facilitates the purchase and sale of stocks, bonds, and securities for clients.

  • Tax Examiner - determines how much is owed and collects taxes from individuals and businesses.

  • Accountant - prepares and examines financial records. An accountant makes sure these records are accurate and that taxes are paid on time and in the right amount.

  • Mathematician - uses formulas and models to prove/disprove mathematical theories. A mathematician also uses math to solve real world problems in areas such as business, engineering, and science.

  • Statistician - analyzes and interprets data collection of surveys and experiments. Like a mathematician, a statistician uses models to solve real world problems in areas such as business, engineering, and science.

  • Financial Planner - assists people in managing and planning their financial futures.

  • Actuary - interprets statistics to find the probabilities of accidents, sickness, death, natural distasters, and other undesirable events.

  • Cryptologist - deciphers codes, puzzles, and cryptograms but also creates codes to protect private information.

  • Financial Analyst - assists businesses in making investments and assesses the performance of investments.

  • Air Traffic Controller - manages flow of aircrafts in and out of an airport's airspace with efficiency and safety in mind. An air traffic controller directs the speed and altitude at which aircrafts fly at and must use math to make sure aircrafts are safe distances away from each other.

  • Cost Estimator - determines how much a product or project will cost and also determines how much profit a job is making.

  • Budget Analyst - develops, analyzes, and executes budgets of groups such as companies, with budgets being used to allocate resources and estimate future spending.

  • Cartographer - designs and prepares maps using different mathematical coordinate systems and scaling.

  • Foreign Exchange Trader - analyzes the factors that affect exchange rates (exchanging currencies from one country to another) and using misevaluations of currencies to buy or sell them in different foreign exchange markets.

  • Purchasing Agent - is in charge of all the buying for his or her company and must ensure that the cost balances the budget while also purchasing quality goods and services.
