  • Chemist - researches and experiments with chemicial substances (made up of elements of the periodic table) and their properties. A chemist also studies chemical reactions between different substances.

  • Physicist - tries to understand the nature of the entire universe using math and theories to explain why certain things occur. For example, a physicist explains why an apple drops to the ground when you let go instead of going any other direction.

  • Astronomer - studies the planets and stars of our solar system, but also studies other solar systems and galaxies and the entire universe.

  • Doctor - treats and studies with a specific focus. For example, a neurologist studies and treats the brain, nerves, and spinal cord.

  • Meteorologist - observes, analyzes, and forecasts the earth's atmospheric behavior (weather).

  • Geoscientist - studies the physical aspects of the earth, like soil and rocks.

  • Environmental Scientist - studies the effects of natural and unnatural processes on the earth. An environmental scientist also studies the effects of the physical components of earth on the environment.

  • Biologist - studies all kinds of life, specifically organisms and how they interact with the environment.

  • Archaeologist - studies cultures of the past through artifacts like fossils.

  • Geneticist - studies genetics which involves heredity (the traits that children inherit from their parents like eye color) and the natural variation in organisms.

  • Zoologist - studies animals and other wildlife and how they interact with their ecosystems.

  • Hydrologist - studies bodies of water and rainfall and uses the data collected to see the relationship between the water and the environment.

  • Astronaut - travels in outerspace but spends most of the time preparing for these trips through intense training.

  • Pharmacist - compounds and dispenses medication to patients.

  • Veterinarian - treats and diagnoses animals.

  • Oceanographer - understands how the ocean and its organism function as a system.

  • Forensic Scientist - investigates crimes by gathering and analyzing physical evidence (like fingerprints).
